Come ogni anno il 12 ottobre è il "Giorno di Colombo" per tutto il mondo.
Genova che ha dato i natali allo scopritore delle Americhe lo celebra con una serie di iniziative, presentate in queste pagine, che hanno il loro centro nell'assegnazione da parte del Comune di Genova del Premio Colombo per le Comunicazioni arrivato quest'anno alla cinquantacinquesima edizione che significativamente viene consegnato proprio in tale giorno nella Sala del Maggior Consiglio di Palazzo Ducale.

The City of Genoa celebrates Christopher Columbus
As every year, 12th October represents the “Columbus Day” all over the world.
Genoa, which gave birth to the discoverer of the Americas, celebrates him with a series of events  presented in these pages. The core is undoubtedly the “Columbus Award for Communications”, which comes this year at its fifty-fifth edition, assigned by Genoa Municipality and meaningfully delivered on that day in the Palazzo Ducale Hall of Great Council. The “Columbus Award for Communications” is being assigned in Genoa from more than 50 years, during the celebrations for Columbus every 12th October.
According to the policy, it is annually awarded to those who most contributed with a discovery, research, work or initiative to the progress of communications as means of economic development, civil cooperation and rapprochement between peoples.
